Mrs. Thorp

Welcome to a look inside of Montpelier Schools. Thank you for your interest.  I hope that you will find this page to be helpful.  As you explore our website you should be able to find the following information: access to the electronic gradebook, the school’s yearly calendar, the daily announcements, athletic schedules, guidance information and a glimpse of our student life.  In addition, there are useful forms and contact information as well.  So please, feel free to contact me or any of our staff members if you have questions or comments.

Information you cannot gather from the website, the fact that the Montpelier 7-12 teachers are dedicated to our students, parents and the community.  The staff strives to present exciting and meaningful learning opportunities within the classroom.  At the same time, setting the bar high by providing rigorous curriculum necessary for our students to be successful in today’s society.  Each teacher has a focus on real life situations and helping our students make those connections as much as possible.  Parents are encouraged to reach out to our staff with any questions and concerns throughout the course of the school year. It is without saying how proud I am of our teaching staff for all the hours and effort they put in daily for the success of our schools, as well as all of the programs provided to our students.

With that said, we encourage our students to be active, with some form of extracurricular beyond academics so they can become more well-rounded individuals. Possible offerings include: athletic programs such as football, volleyball, golf, cross country, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, and track. Other activities include Spanish Club, Student Council, Quiz Bowl, Archery, Robotics, and National Honors Society.  We are always looking for additional activities if you would like to share your talents with our students.

If a club or sport is not your thing we have an amazing music program at Montpelier Schools.  The concert band has been to state several times and has branched off to an amazing Jazz Band that is always willing to perform.  Our JH and HS choirs continue to grow each year with the Locomotion show choir also looking to display their talents within the community.  Please, take a risk and get involved with something new this coming year.

In closing I would also like to say how extremely proud I am of the students at Montpelier Schools.  Being a smaller district we have students that are involved in many of the activities provided.  Sometimes it is the same group of students, and that is why we encourage more involvement.  But it is wonderful to see those student leaders reach out to others to get them involved.  It is wonderful to hear the positive comments not only from our own community members, but also those from neighboring communities.  It is nice to see our students wanting to better themselves each day striving to be the best that they can be. But best of all, it is wonderful to see the growth in our student body, not only through academics and athletics, but in size and strength.  When our students graduate they have the confidence and are prepared to take on college life or the challenges of the workforce.   That comes from not only dedicated students, but from the parents, staff and community as well.  Keep up the great work!

Sincerely,

Su Thorp
